LET MY MOUTH BE FILLED WITH YOUR PRAISE
Text: Psalm 71

NEARING THE END OF ANOTHER YEAR
Once again, we come to the end of another year. How has this year been? Let us learn valuable lessons from Psalm 71 as to how we may reflect on our life.
- Problems in life
a) Problems in life are to be expected
b) The Psalmist reflected on the many problems he faced in his life:
i) There were enemies who plotted against him Psalm 71:4, 10, 11
ii) The danger of losing his life was thus very real
- Prayers to God
a) This was a natural response
b) One who has learned to trust God will be inclined to prayer
- Protection from God
a) This was sought earnestly and humbly
b) The cries to God included the following:
i) A strong refuge Psalm 71:3a
ii) Rock and fortress Psalm 71:3d
GIVING PRAISE TO GOD
The Psalmist was determined to offer praise to God. He wrote meaningfully these words.
“Let my mouth be filled with Your praise,
And with Your glory all the day.” Psalm 71:8
- Let my mouth be filled
a) He desired to have his mouth filled
b) Not with food, but with praise
2. Your praise… and Your glory
a) There was every reason to offer praise to God
i) He had been a strong refuge
ii) He had protected the psalmist and preserved his life
b) Not just general songs of praise
i) The focus was the glory of God
ii) The Psalmist saw the glory of God as he faced his problems
c) He determined to extol God and His glory!
Let us be inspired to offer heartfelt praise to God. Let us seek to proclaim then glory of the Lord!
