ISRAEL, MY GLORY
Text: Isaiah 46
22 December 2019
THE ORIGINAL PLAN OF GOD
God’s original plan was to display His glory in and through Israel. Moses reminded Israel how the LORD had chosen Israel in the first place.
- Not because of:
a) Their size as a nation Deuteronomy 7:7
b) Their power and might Deuteronomy 8:17
c) Their righteousness Deuteronomy 9:6
- The reality:
a) Israel was but a small nation Deuteronomy 7:7
b) It was weak compared to the Canaanites Deuteronomy 7:1
c) The nation was rebellious and stubborn Deuteronomy 9:7
But despite God’s original plan to make Israel glorious, the people sinned grievously and were disinherited!
A RESTORED PLAN
God still loved Israel. He made this wonderful statement.
“Listen to Me, you stubborn-hearted,
Who are far from righteousness:
I bring My righteousness near, it shall not be far off;
My salvation shall not linger.
And I will place salvation in Zion,
For Israel My glory. Isaiah 46:12-13
- God’s plan declared to Israel
a) A stubborn nation
b) A nation far from righteousness
- What God would do for Israel
a) He would bring His righteousness near
b) He would bring salvation to His people
c) He would give glory to Israel
OUR CHALLENGE
God’s plan was not limited to Israel. He desires to give glory to all who truly trust in Him.
- He would help us overcome our stubbornness
- He would deliver us from evil
- He would bring His salvation near
Our part is to believe and trust in the promises of the Lord our God. We can behold His glory as He works within us!
