YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD

THE CHALLENGE TO “PERFECTING SERVICE”
The desire to serve the Lord our God should be the most natural thing for every believer. The great challenge is really how we may “perfect our service” to the Lord!
A VITAL SECRET
Why do some serve the Lord better than others? Is there a secret that we need to discover?
Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one!
And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart,
And with all your soul, and with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:4-5
- The LORD our God
This must be made personal
a) A personal faith
b) A personal relationship
c) A personal love
- The LORD is one
a) There cannot be idols in our heart
b) There is but One LORD whom we worship
c) This must be established
- You shall love the LORD
a) It seems to be such an obvious statement
b) Yet it must be stated and established
c) There must be a genuine love for the LORD
- Cultivating a deep love for God
Having a genuine love is not sufficient! This love must be cultivated more diligently and wisely.
a) With all your heart
i) With deep emotion
ii) With strong feelings
b) With all your mind
i) With knowledge
ii) With understanding
iii) With wisdom
c) With all your strength
i) Strength is best expressed in external works
ii) Loving the Lord should naturally result in service given to Him
iii) Love for the Lord needs to be strong
The secret of perfecting service lies in the way we cultivate our love for the Lord. The more we are able to cultivate this love for Him, the better we will be able to serve Him!
