WHEN GOD BECOMES PERSONAL

Faith in God is sometimes more religious than personal. We miss out so much when our relationship with God lacks the personal element. Abraham’s grandchildren, Esau and Jacob did not have a personal relationship with God. It was the Lord who initiated the cultivation of a personal faith in Him.

And behold, the LORD stood above it and said:

I am the LORD God of Abraham your father

And the God of Isaac;

The land on which you lie I will give to you

And your descendants.

Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth;

You shall spread abroad to the west and to the east,

To the north and to the south;

And in you and in your seed all the families of the earth

Shall be blessed.

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go,

And will bring you back to this land;

For I will not leave you until I have done what

I have spoken to you.     Genesis 28:13-15

APPROPRIATE RESPONSE

Jacob was in awe as he pondered these words from the Lord. Humbly, he bowed and worshiped  the Lord. The journey of faith had begun for Jacob! God did not ever fail him. Let us consider developing a closer relationship with the Lord!
