THE ANGELS OF GOD

The angels of God are mighty and awe-inspiring. Each time an angel appears to people, a sense of awe and fear would be felt. The first words of the visiting angel were directed to calm fears.

  1. To Zacharias

“Do not be afraid”     Luke 1:13

  1. To Mary

“Do not be afraid”     Luke 1:30

  1. To the shepherds

“Do not be afraid”     Luke 2:10

THE ANGEL GABRIEL

The angel Gabriel was sent to speak to Zacharias and to bring him the good news that he would soon be a father. Zacharias, being an old man expressed doubt and uncertainty! Gabriel then said to Zacharias:

I am Gabriel who stands in the presence of God,

And was sent to speak to you and bring you glad tidings.

But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak

Until the day these things take place, because you

Did not believe my words which will be fulfilled

In their own time.     Luke 1:19-20

  1. The standing of Gabriel is to be noted
  1. His power and authority are to be observed too

JESUS THE SON OF GOD

Against this backdrop, we have the following observations about the Son of God!

For to which of the angels did he ever say:

You are My Son,

Today I have begotten You.      Hebrews 1:5

And again:

I will be to Him a Father;

And He shall be called My Son      Hebrews 1:6

CELEBRATING THE 1ST ADVENT OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

We have every reason to celebrate Christmas. We celebrate the 1st Advent of the Lord Jesus Christ!

  1. The birth of the Lord Jesus was specially celebrated

a) When God created a Star to show the significance of the birth of Jesus

b) When God sent angels to sing about the birth of the Lord Jesus to faithful shepherds

  1. The celebration of the birth of the Lord Jesus today

a) Let us celebrate because we have a greater understanding of the significance of His birth

b) Let us celebrate because we have found salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ!

May the Lord grant us much spiritual insight as we enter into the Christmas season!
