MAKE YOUR CALL AND ELECTION SURE

THE DOCTRINE OF GOD’S CALLING
This is a glorious and profound doctrine! It is wonderfully taught in the Scriptures. The more we study this teaching, the more humbled we must be!
THE MAIN TENETS OF THIS DOCTRINE
The main tenets of this wonderful teaching include the following: –
- God is the One who does the choosing
a) Out of His grace, mercy and love
b) There is a glorious Divine Plan involved
- God is not limited by the sinfulness of man
a) In all instances, the chosen ones are sinful and weak
b) However, God is not limited by human weaknesses and limitations
- God’s Plans are fulfilled
a) When man understands and complies fully
b) Great fruitfulness is evidenced
WHAT IS OUR PART?
The Apostle Peter offered practical and powerful insights as to the role that we must seek to fulfill.
Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent
To make your call and election sure… 1 Peter 2:10
- Our call
a) This is an invitation from God
b) He calls us to be His people
c) He calls us to walk in His light
d) He calls us to holiness
e) Obedience to the Lord is of vital importance
- Election
a) This is another way of describing our being “chosen”
b) “To choose” means “to elect”
- Calling and Election
a) They were meant to go together
b) They are two sides of the same coin
4. Being diligent to make sure
a) It is possible to mistake our calling and election
b) Therefore, we must first check and determine
i) Our calling to salvation
ii) Our calling to service
c) If there is indeed that genuineness of salvation, there will be fruitful service
Let us check not just our hearts but our lives!
