THE FEARS THAT THREATEN

If we are honest with ourselves, we are sometimes nearly overcome by our fears. Many doubts come along our way and they can cloud our minds badly. Some of these fears were identified in Psalm 11. Two may be highlighted.

  1. The power of the wicked

a) They bend their bow

b) They make ready to strike

c) They shoot at the righteous secretly

  1. A sense of helplessness is sometimes felt

a) We want to flee like a bird

b) We fear that the very foundations of society will come undone

OVERCOMING FEARS

How may we overcome our fears? Let us learn vital lessons from the Psalmist David.

  1. Let us place our trust in the Lord
  1. Let us believe in this word we read: –

The LORD is in His holy temple,

The LORD’s throne is in heaven;

His eyes behold,

His eyelids test the sons of men.

For the LORD is righteous,

He loves righteousness,

His countenance beholds the upright.             Psalm 11:4, 7

ESSENTIAL TRUTHS WE MUST HOLD FAST

Let us hold fast to the following essential truths revealed in the Scriptures.

  1. The Lord is in on His throne in heaven

a) His eyes behold all things

b) He tests the sons of men

c) The wicked

d) The upright

  1. The Being of God is Righteousness itself

a) He loves righteousness

b) His countenance beholds the upright

OUR CHALLENGE

Let us hold fast to our faith in the Lord. No matter how bleak life may be, let us believe that He is in absolute control of all things at all times! Let us say like King David:

“In the LORD I put my trust.”           Psalm 11:1
