WALKING WITH JESUS
We begin a new series of Pulpit Messages today. The theme is inspired by Colossians 2:6 where the apostle Paul enjoins his readers to walk with Jesus diligently and faithfully on a daily basis!

JESUS CALLED PEOPLE TO WALK WITH HIM

Some people get the wrong impression that Jesus had only twelve disciples and one betrayed Him. The following text demonstrates that this is not the case at all!

After these things the Lord anointed seventy others also,
And sent them two by two before His face into every city
And place where He Himself was about to go.    Luke 10:1

1. There were at least two main groups!

2. These were

a) The Twelve Luke 9:1

b) The Seventy Luke 10:1

WHY DID JESUS CALL PEOPLE TO WALK WITH HIM?

There are many reasons why Jesus called people to follow Him! Let’s take a look at the following list.

1. As an appropriate and natural response

a) To know Jesus as Saviour and Lord is truly wonderful

b) To follow Him is the most appropriate and natural response of the heart

c) What a great privilege it is to follow Jesus!

2. In order to be instructed carefully

a) It is not enough to acknowledge Jesus as Saviour

b) Many may be fooled into thinking that acknowledging Jesus as Saviour is all there is to Christianity! (This is an error that is deceptively deadly)!

c) Without deep instruction our faith would never be strong

3. In order to prepare oneself for meaningful ministry

a) Without instruction it is impossible to preach and teach God’s word

b) Without deep instruction it is impossible to sustain a deep and significant ministry

OUR CHALLENGE

Let us be challenged in our heart to look at our walk with the Lord Jesus Christ!

1. Can we speak of having a Christian walk at all?

2. How strong is our walk with the Lord?

3. How are we reflecting this walk with Christ in our daily life?
