Full of Joy

Text: Acts 2:22-28

GOD IS THE SOURCE OF JOY

1. Because the LORD is always before us

a) The LORD is present with us
b) The LORD is consistently there for us
c) The LORD protects us
d) The LORD leads us

2. Because the LORD is at our right hand

a) The LORD is near to us
b) The LORD upholds us
c) The LORD strengthens us
d) We can depend on Him

3. Purpose and Goal: That we may not be shaken

a) There is no need to fear
b) There is no need to doubt
c) There is no need to stumble
d) The LORD will hold us steady

OUR GOOD AND APPROPRIATE RESPONSES TO THE JOY THAT GOD GIVES

1. Our hearts rejoice

a) Joy that is not superficial
b) Joy that comes from the heart
c) Deep joy in the LORD

2. Our tongues are glad

a) Joy in the heart must be expressed
b) Our tongues are used to express the joy of the heart

3. Our flesh rests in hope

a) Hope is the undergirding principle
b) Death is not the end
c) There is the hope of the resurrection
i) Our souls will not be left in Hades
ii) We will be given resurrected bodies one day
d) This gives us a deep sense of assurance

THE HOPE OF FULLNESS OF JOY

1. The LORD has made known to us the ways of life

a) God has set different paths for each of us in life
b) To each of us God makes known the ways of life

2. The LORD will make us full of joy in His presence

a) When we walk according to God’s ways, His presence will be there with us
b) We will find fullness of joy in His presence

THE SEARCH FOR FULLNESS OF JOY

1. Searching for fullness of joy

a) In knowing God
b) In relating to God
c) In serving God
b) In the hope of being with God in heaven one day

2. Obtaining fullness of joy

a) Experiencing glimpses of joy
b) Seeking fullness of joy in God’s presence
