Early Will I Seek You

THE EXAMPLE OF DAVID’S RESPONSE TO GOD

1. Seeking God early in the morning

“O God, you are my God, early will I seek You. My soul thirst for You. My flesh longs for You..”   Psalm 63:1
a. To seek God urgently in the morning
b. To seek God earnestly in the morning
c. To seek God longingly in the morning

2. Seeking God in the evening

a. Remembering the Lord in the evening   (Psalm 63:6)
b. Meditating on the Lord in the evening   (Psalm 63:6)

WHY DO WE SEEK THE LORD?

“In a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and glory…”   Psalm 63:2

1. To seek for God out of deep necessity

a. To quench the spiritual dryness in the soul
b. To seek for God who is not easy to find

2. Having the prospect of seeing greater things of God

a. His power
b. His glory

3. To desire closeness with God   (Psalm 63:8)

HOW SHOULD WE SEEK THE LORD?

1. With all our heart and mind

2. With focus

3. With diligence

RESULTS OF SEEKING THE LORD

1. Deep Satisfaction within the soul   (Psalm 63:5)

2. Deep appreciation for the Lord

a. His lovingkindness   (Psalm 63:3)
b. His help   (Psalm 63:7)
c. His upholding   (Psalm 63:8)

3. Praise to God   (Psalm 63:3-5)

4. Rejoicing in the Lord throughout the day   (Psalm 63:5, 7)

a. Seeing himself as a king who rejoices in God   (Psalm 63:11)
b. Seeing others glory when they swear by Him   (Psalm 63:11)
