“BE AN EXAMPLE TO THE BELIEVERS”


(I) MANY WORDS OF INSTRUCTION GIVEN

1. To battle false teachers (1 Timothy 1:3-11)


2. To wage the good warfare (1 Timothy 1:18-20)


3. To exhort people to pray (1 Timothy 2)


4. To appoint leaders (1 Timothy 3:1-213)

a) Elders/ bishops

b) Deacons


5. To instruct the brethren (1 Timothy 4:6-12)

 

(II) DIFFICULT TASKS

1. Deep knowledge needed


2. Great courage to face problems


3. Mighty strength from the Spirit of God


4. Wisdom to discern

 

(III) THE MOST CHALLENGING TASK OF ALL

1. To be an example of the believers (1 Timothy 4:12)


2. What it implies:-

a) A genuine faith

b) A consistent faith

c) A relevant and practical reality

d) Uplifting and inspiring to all

e) Great leadership


3. Areas identified

a) Word

b) Conduct

c) Love

d) Spirit

e) Faith

f) Purity


(IV) SUCCESS IN LIFE AND MINISTRY

1. Important instruction:

Give attention to:-

a) Reading

b) Exhortation

c) Doctrine


2. Cultivating gift(s)

a) Reference to prophetic statements made

b) Every gift must be cultivated


3. Personal exhortation

a) Meditate on these things

b) Give yourself entirely to them

c) Make sure progress is visible to all

d) Take heed to self and to the doctrine

e) Continue in them
