My Glory I Will Not Give to Another

1. The Glory of God

a) Unique- Because there is only One True God
b) Full of Majesty
c) Full of Power
d) Full of Glory

2. Giving of glory to that which is not God

a) Israel giving glory to a golden calf
b) Israel worshiping all kinds of gods

3. God will not give His glory to “carved images”   (Isaiah 42:8)

4. To whom will God give His glory

a) To His Messiah Servant   (Isaiah 42:1)
b) He has given His Spirit in full to Him   (Isaiah 42:1; 11:2)

5. A Prophetic Glimpse of what the Messiah would be

a) He will be most gentle and meek   (Isaiah 42:2-3)
b) He will not fail   (Isaiah 42:4)
c) He will not be discouraged   (Isaiah 42:4)

6. God has called Him   (Isaiah 42:6)

a) God will hold His hand   (Isaiah 42:6)
b) He will keep His servant   (Isaiah 42:6)
c) He will usher in the new covenant   (Isaiah 42:6)
d) He will bring light to Gentiles   (Isaiah 42:6)
e) He will have a glorious ministry   (Isaiah 42:7)

7. God’s glory

a) He will not give to idols   (Isaiah 42:8)
b) He will give His glory to the Messiah-Servant
