You Have Made Me Bold With Strength in My Soul

It is the Lord who emboldens the soul with strength

“In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul.” Psalm 138:3

1. The Lord gave courage to be bold

a. Boldness is something that comes from the Lord
b. There is no longer fear or anguish within
c. There is boldness with strength that has filled the soul
d. The Lord gave David the courage to be bold in life

2. As an answer to prayer

a. David prayed to the Lord and He heard his prayer.
b. When God answered the prayer of David, it brought a lot of encouragement to David
c. God made David strong
d. He was emboldened with strength as a result of prayer.

Expressions of boldness and strength

1. Boldness and strength to worship the Lord

a. Praise God with the whole heart
“I will praise You with my whole heart;”   Psalm 138:1
b. Praise God as a commitment
“I will praise You…”   Psalm 138:1
“Before the gods I will sing praises to You.”   Psalm 138:1
“I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name.”   Psalm 138:2
c. Praises God for all that He is
“For Your lovingkindness and Your truth”   Psalm 138:2
i. His lovingkindness
ii. His truth

2. Boldness and strength to believe in the word of God

“For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.”   Psalm 138:2
a. His word is so great that it is magnified above God’s name
b. We need strength to believe in the word of God and to honour it.
c. It takes boldness to hold on to the word of God

3. Boldness and strength to walk in the midst of trouble

“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me;”   Psalm 138:7
a. As David walked on in life, he faced troubles
b. But he found revival and strength in the Lord.
c. We can find strength to walk on in the midst of troubles

The encouragement to find boldness and strength in the Lord

1. The challenge for us is to find boldness and strength

2. As part of God’s perfecting work in our life

“The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; do not forsake the works of Your hands.”
Psalm 138:8

3. Let us find the boldness of strength to cope with the challenges of life and ministry
