"The seed shall be prosperous"

Text: Zechariah 8:12

WONDERFUL PROMISES GIVEN

The LORD had given many promises to the remnant as they returned to Jerusalem. This text was another wonderful word that was given to the returnees. The following things may be highlighted.

“For the seed shall be prosperous,
The vine shall give its fruit,
The ground shall give her increase,
And the heavens shall give their dew-
I will cause the remnant of this people
To possess all these.”
Zechariah 8:12

1. “The seed shall be prosperous”

a) No farmer would be able to guarantee that the seed sown would be prosperous.
b) There were too many variables that the farmer could not control.
c) But the LORD can guarantee that the seed can be prosperous!

2. “The vine shall give its fruit”

a) The vine was one of the symbols of Israel.
b) No vineyard owner could ever guarantee that the vine would be fruitful.
c) But the LORD promised that the vine would bear fruit.

3. “The ground shall give her increase”

a) This word of promise was uplifting, to say the least.
b) The seed and the vine depend on good fertile soil to grow well.
c) The LORD promised that the ground would give the desired increase.

4. “And the heavens shall give their dew”

Only the LORD can give such an assurance!

5. “I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these”

a) The seed and the vine would be successfully cultivated.
b) God would fulfil all that He had promised.
c) The remnant would be exceptionally blessed.
