"What do you see?"

Text: Zechariah 4:2

THE TEACHING METHOD OF THE ANGEL

This teaching angel was a very good teacher, as we might expect from an angel.

“And he said to me, ‘What do you see?’
So I said, ‘I am looking,
and there is a lampstand of solid gold with a bowl on top of it,
and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps.'”
Zechariah 4:2

1. “What do you see?”

a) Zechariah needed to train his power of observation.
b) He would not be spoon-fed.
c) The teaching angel wanted interaction from Zechariah.

2. “So I said, ‘I am looking'”

a) Zechariah knew what was expected of him.
b) His part was to look carefully and to comprehend what he saw.

3. The golden lampstand in the days of Moses

a) This Lampstand was mentioned in Exodus 25:31-40.
b) The symbolic role of the Lampstand:
i) To provide light.
ii) God would provide the necessary light for Israel.

4. The lampstand in the 5th Vision given to Zechariah

a) The lampstand would be made of solid gold to symbolize its preciousness.
b) The lampstand is called the Menorah.
c) It had seven lamps and seven pipes that provided the fuel to keep the Light burning perpetually.
d) In the Second Temple, there would also be a golden Menorah.
e) God would continue to provide Light to the returning nation.
