"If you will walk in My ways"

Text: Zechariah 3:7

ADMONISHMENT TO JOSHUA

The Angel of the LORD was kind and gracious. But He was also firm as to what Joshua must attend to.

“Then the Angel of the LORD admonished Joshua, saying,
‘Thus says the LORD of hosts:
“If you will walk in My ways,
And if you will keep My command,
Then you shall also judge My house,
And likewise have charge of My courts;
I will give you places to walk
Among these who stand here.”‘”
Zechariah 3:6-7

1. “Then the Angel of the LORD admonished Joshua, saying”

a) This was strong counsel given.
b) Joshua is expected to take heed.

2. “Thus says the LORD of hosts”

a) This word came from the LORD God Himself.
b) His word must not be ignored and set aside easily.

3. Two commandments highlighted:

a) To walk in God’s ways.
b) To keep His commandments.

4. The consequences would be significant

Honour would be accorded Joshua if he heeded the Lord’s commandments. He must give the admonishment of the Angel of the LORD the highest regard.

a) Joshua would function as one who would “judge (His) house”.
He would preside over the priestly household as the High Priest.
b) He would have full rein over all the courts of the Temple.
c) He would have a place among the faithful angelic servants of God.
