"Joshua the high priest"

Text: Zechariah 3:1

UPLIFTING MESSAGES FROM THE LORD

These special visions conveyed powerful and uplifting messages from the LORD.

1. The Vision of the Horsemen (Zechariah 1:7-11)

It was a message of assurance and comfort. God has angels who watch the world.

2. The Vision of the Horns and Craftsmen (Zechariah 1:18-21)

Again, a word of comfort was given. God will break the power of mighty enemies.

3. The Vision of the Surveyor and his measuring line (Zechariah 2:1-5)

A third word of comfort and encouragement was given. Jerusalem would one day be inhabited.

THE FOURTH VISION

The fourth vision focused on the high priest Joshua.

“Then he showed me Joshua the high priest
standing before the Angel of the LORD,
and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him.”
Zechariah 3:1

1. “Then he showed me Joshua the high priest”

a) The high priest was the chief servant of the Lord in the Temple ministry.
b) His ministry was vital:
i) In the ministry of intercession for the nation of Israel.
ii) In leading all the other priests and Levites in the Temple ministry.

2. “Standing before the Angel of the LORD”

a) This was a reference to the Pre-incarnate Christ (Messiah).
b) The high priest has an Advocate in the Angel of the LORD.

3. “And Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him”

a) Satan was the invisible and powerful adversary.
b) He was there to oppose the ministry of Joshua the high priest.
c) He stood there to defy Joshua as he sought to fulfil his ministry as an intercessor.
d) His presence and opposition must have a dampening effect on the high priest.
