Zechariah
"Then the LORD showed me four craftsmen"
Text: Zechariah 1:20
THE APPEARANCE OF THE FOUR CRAFTSMEN
This was part of the vision of the four horns. The scene had changed. Four craftsmen appeared to deal with the four horns.
“Then the LORD showed me four craftsmen.
And I said, ‘What are these coming to do?’
So he said, ‘These are the horns that scattered Judah,
so that no one could lift up his head;
but the craftsmen are coming to terrify them,
to cast out the horns of the nations
that lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.'”
Zechariah 1:20-21
1. “Then the LORD showed me four craftsmen”
a) The angel may explain and teach.
b) But all visions come from the LORD.
2. Zechariah’s question to the angel
a) “What are these coming to do?”
b) It may seem obvious. But Zechariah had chosen to learn.
The best way to learn was to ask his teaching angel to explain.
3. The angel answered
a) The LORD did not need to speak directly to Zechariah.
b) The angel sent to teach Zechariah would be sufficient.
4. The horns that had scattered Judah
They were powerful. No one could lift up the head against the horn of the Babylonians that saw to the destruction of Judah and Jerusalem.
