"In the eighth month of the second year of Darius"

Text: Zechariah 1:1

AN INTERESTING HISTORICAL NOTE

Zechariah noted when he began his ministry as a prophet of the LORD God.

“In the eighth month of the second year of Darius,
the word of the LORD came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah,
the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,”
Zechariah 1:1

This text may be compared with the opening words of Haggai the prophet.

“In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month,
on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD
came by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel,
governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,”
Haggai 1:1
