"He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies..."
Text: Romans 8:11
GREAT SIGNIFICANCE
There is great significance in the knowledge of Christ indwelling the believer. This is something that should be carefully understood and appreciated! Let us ponder this very significant text that touches on one ramification of being indwelt by the Spirit of God.
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead
dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead
will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit
who dwells in you.”
Romans 8:11
1. The involvement of God the Father
a) He is the One who raised Jesus from the dead.
b) He is the One who has given us the Holy Spirit.
2. The Gift of the Spirit of God
a) This Gift is from none other than the Father Himself.
b) The Spirit of God was given by the Father so that He might indwell every believer.
3. The continuing work of the Father
a) He works through the Spirit of God.
b) He works in our mortal bodies.
i) Though it is beset by sins.
ii) Though it is but mere dust.
c) He gives life through the Spirit of God who indwells us.
REMINISCENT OF GOD’S CREATION OF ADAM AND EVE
Let us recall how God gave life to Adam and Eve.
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man
became a living being.”
Genesis 2:7
In another extraordinary way, God breathed new life to us through His Spirit when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour!
