Day 111

"...through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Text: Romans 5:21

THE POWER OF SIN

The power of sin must never be taken lightly! The effect of sin is well stated in the following text.

“So that as sin reigned in death,
Even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 5:21

The following observations must be made about the nature of sin.

1. Sin exists.

2. Sin exerts a deadly rule.

3. It destroys and reigns in death.

THE POWER OF GRACE

Thank God that there is an answer to the problem of sin! Paul offers a glorious contrast to the power of sin! It is the power of grace rather than the law!

1. The reign of grace

This is wonderfully contrasted with the reign of sin!

2. What are some of the things bestowed by Grace?

a) Grace offers to reign in the life of the believer.
b) It offers righteousness- an imputation of the righteousness of Christ.
c) It offers eternal life.

Grace is arguably the most precious word in New Testament theology. How wonderful is the grace of God given to sinful mankind.

IS JESUS THE LORD OF YOUR LIFE?

As we dwell on the glorious abundant grace of God, our hearts must be drawn to the Person who made this grace available! Paul delighted in proclaiming the One Person who made it possible for such grace to abound towards man- “through Jesus Christ the Lord.”

1. Jesus is the Christ- the Anointed of God.

2. Jesus is also the Lord- the One who deserves to reign in our hearts through grace.
