"Being justified freely by His grace..."

Text: Romans 3:24

MANY ASPECTS- GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION

God’s plan of salvation has many wondrous aspects to appreciate! In some texts, Paul would emphasize “faith”. However, this is not the only aspect to appreciate about the doctrine of salvation. In the following text, we have an even more profound aspect to ponder over.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
being justified freely by His grace through the redemption
that is in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 3:23-24

1. Can man obtain salvation on his own merit?

Paul’s answer was both swift and certain. Man cannot redeem himself.

a) He has sinned.
b) He has fallen short of God’s standard.

2. Man must exercise his faith

a) Through eyes of faith he acknowledges that he is a sinner.
b) Through eyes of faith, he gratefully acknowledges the redemption God offers.

3. The Redemption of God

a) By His grace

The word “grace” underscores an important truth! God’s plan of salvation is based on His grace and not on man’s worth!

b) Justified freely

Four elements must be highlighted here:-

i) Justification is a reference to God declaring man pardoned!
ii) In this justification, He also declares man “righteous”.
iii) He imputes to man the righteousness of Christ.
iv) Justification is given freely!
c) Through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus
i) The role of Christ Jesus must be understood and appreciated.
ii) He plays the role of Redeemer.
iii) He offers redemption to all who believe in His work of redemption.
iv) God accepts all, Jew and Gentile, on the basis of Christ’s redemption.
