"What if some did not believe?"
Text: Romans 3:3
THE BLESSINGS OF GOD
Many were the blessings God gave to Israel! The following may be highlighted:-
1. The Covenants
a) Abrahamic
b) Levitical
c) Davidic
2. Additional Blessings
a) Israel’s religious system
b) The laws encoded in the Scriptures
NOT ALL APPRECIATED THESE BLESSINGS
Paul was aware that not all Jews appreciated these blessings from God. He addressed this matter.
“For what if some did not believe?
Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of
God without effect?”
Romans 3:4
1. The problem of unbelief
a) Well recorded
The history of Israel solemnly points out the fact that the nation constantly rebelled against God (Cf. 1 and 2 Samuel; 1 and 2 Kings; 1 and 2 Chronicles).
b) Attempts to deal with the problem of unbelief
God sent numerous prophets to address the problem of unbelief. Despite the strong preaching of the word of God, Israel continued in the sin of unbelief!
2. Did the sins of the nation reflect adversely on God?
a) Was the faithfulness of God ineffective?
b) Was the law of God powerless?
The problem of unbelief was still rampant, even in the days of the apostle Paul! Does the sin of unbelief negate the faithfulness of God?
