"Think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith"

Text: Romans 12:3

THE SALVATION PLAN OF GOD

The salvation that God offers everyone is truly glorious and wonderful! His plan of salvation through grace and faith in the Lord Jesus is soul-uplifting! The Gospel that offers justification by faith in the Lord Jesus is unlike any other!

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

The believer in Christ must take the time to learn how to live out his faith in God in practical details! (Romans 12-15 offers a glimpse how one may posses an outstanding Christian life)!

“For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone
who is among you, not to think of himself more highly
than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has
dealt to each one a measure of faith.”
Romans 12:3

1. Key words in the vocabulary of the Christian

a) Grace
i) Our salvation is possible only through the grace of God.
ii) Grace must mark the life of the genuine believer.
b) Faith
i) Each believer has been given a certain measure of faith.
ii) He is expected to “live by faith”.
iii) He is expected to cultivate his faith.
iv) However, the cultivation of faith must be in the context of grace.
v) Grace must temper the way in which our Faith is cultivated.

2. A major problem to take note of

a) To think of self more highly than one ought to

The sin of pride (arrogance) is unfortunately all too real! This will adversely affect both the growth and testimony of the Christian!

b) To think soberly

Sober thinking must be always in the context of “grace” and “faith”.
