"But they have not all obeyed the gospel..."

Text: Romans 10:16

THE SAD REALITY OF LIFE

The Gospel of peace is truly glorious and wonderful! However, the sad reality of life is that there would always be some who would reject the Gospel of peace.

“But they have not all obeyed the gospel.
For Isaiah says. ‘LORD, who has believed our report?’
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:16-17

1. They have not all obeyed the Gospel

a) The Gospel requires obedience from man
i) Repentance is required.
ii) Forsaking of sins also required.
iii) Living for God in the new life must also be sustained.
b) There would always be those who would end up rejecting the Gospel
i) They reject the call to repentance.
ii) They reject the Gospel presented to them.
iii) They prefer to live in sin.
iv) They prefer to listen to their own hearts than to obey God!
c) Hard experiences of life
i) Isaiah experienced the pain of rejection of the word he preached.
ii) Paul also experienced rejection from both Jews and Gentiles.

2. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God

a) Faith in God must nevertheless be proclaimed still.
b) Faith is still possible (though many reject).
c) Faith is generated through hearing the Word of God preached!
