IS IT POSSIBLE TO WORSHIP WITHOUT SINGING?

What is worship? Is it possible to offer worship to God without the singing of songs? The short answer is “Yes!” Not all worship must be attended by songs. The following offered worship without songs.

1. Abel Genesis 4

2. Noah Genesis 8

3. Abraham Genesis 22

THE IDEA OF SINGING SONGS IN WORSHIP

Undoubtedly, the psalmists strongly advocated and promoted the idea of singing as a valid and vital expression of worship.

“Oh, sing to the LORD a new song!
Sing to the LORD, all the earth.”
Psalm 96:1

1. “Oh, sing to the LORD”

a) This is a heartfelt appeal more than a command.
b) Singing is a natural expression of the soul.
c) Singing to the Lord should be a natural desire for a soul that has been touched.
d) And should not the heart be touched?
i) God has been so gracious.
ii) He has been so wonderfully faithful to His people.

2. “A new song”

a) This could come from a heart that has been touched and inspired.
b) This is a challenge to compose new songs of praise to God for His blessing.

3. “Sing to the LORD, all the earth”

a) The Lord deserves to be praised in song.
b) The entire earth ought to unite together to offer worship to God.

Imagine a global congregation of billions singing songs of praise to God!
