Day 44 – Psalm 94

“For the LORD will not cast off His people…” Psalm 94:14a

COMFORTING ASSURANCE AMIDST ADVERSITY

The wicked may seem to be in control as they strut around, boasting of their might and their power. The elect of God need not be overwhelmed by the presence of evil. Instead they must exercise their faith.

“For the LORD will not cast off His people,
Nor will He forsake His inheritance.
But judgment will return to righteousness,
And all the upright in heart will follow it.”
Psalm 94:14-15

1. God has a covenantal relationship with His people

a) He regards them as “His people”.
b) He considers them “His inheritance”.
i) He will not cast them off.
ii) He will not forsake them.
c) This is a deeply assuring truth that we must exercise faith in!

2. “Judgment will return”

a) For the moment injustice may seem to rule the day.
b) But one day judgment will return.
i) This is a prophetic word.
ii) The Lord will send His Messiah to restore justice (Isaiah 9:7).
iii) The Messiah will establish His throne with judgment and justice.

3. “All the upright in heart will follow it”

a) The upright in heart must never give in to hopeless despair.
b) The upright in heart will strengthen their faith and hope in the Lord’s promises.
c) They will follow the path of justice.
d) They will continue to seek the Lord’s instruction (Psalm 25:4-15).
