“They shall still bear fruit in old age…” Psalm 92:14a

HAPPY THOUGHTS

Good and happy thoughts ought to fill the heart and mind on the Sabbath day. Many fear old age. Psalm 92 concludes on a strong and positive note. The righteous need not fear old age.

“They shall still bear fruit in old age;
They shall be fresh and flourishing,
To declare that the LORD is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”
Psalm 92:14-15

1. “In old age”

What pleasant thoughts these are. There is no need to fear old age.

a) They shall still bear fruit.
b) They shall be fresh.
c) They shall still be flourishing.

2. A special challenge to the righteous aged

a) Let them declare their faith in God.
b) Let them declare that the Lord is indeed upright.
i) He has judged the wicked.
ii) He has blessed the righteous.
c) This is a special piece of work that the righteous aged can do for the Lord.
d) Their testimony of faith would be an inspiration to the next generation.

3. A personal declaration by the psalmist

a) The Lord is his rock (Psalm 18:1-2).
b) There is no unrighteousness in Him.
c) There is only pure righteousness in His whole Being.
d) The righteous may dwell securely in their faith in God.
e) The Sabbath day should always be filled with happy and healthy meditation on God!
