Day 30 – Psalm 92

“But You, LORD, are on high forevermore.” Psalm 92:8

TAKE TIME TO REFLECT ON GOD’S SOVEREIGNTY

Another good practice on the Sabbath day is to take time to reflect on the sovereignty of God.

“But You, LORD, are on high forevermore.
For behold, Your enemies, O LORD,
For behold, Your enemies shall perish;
All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.”
Psalm 92:8-9

1. Don’t lose perspective and faith

a) It is all too easy to lose perspective.
b) To lose perspective is to be in danger of losing faith.
c) It is easy to fall into despair when we see “workers of iniquity” flourish.

2. “But You, LORD, are on high forevermore”

a) This is a good expression about the sovereignty of God.
b) God sits securely in the heavens, high and lifted up, forever!
c) The workers of iniquity cannot triumph.

3. “Behold”

a) The psalmist looks upon the enemies of God afresh.
b) He sees them against the backdrop of God’s sovereignty.
c) The word “behold” is used to exclaim understanding of the wondrous work of God.

4. The enemies of God

a) The wicked and the workers of iniquity are called “enemies of God”.
b) Their fate is sealed!
i) They will perish from the sight of God.
ii) The Lord will cause them to be scattered.
iii) God in His sovereignty will judge the wicked and destroy them.
