“But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion…” Psalm 86:15a

HOW WOULD GOD RESPOND TO PRAYER?

David prayed to God with all his heart because of his deep knowledge and faith in Him. Once again David’s knowledge of God comes to his rescue.

“But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious,
Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.”
Psalm 86:15

1. The glorious attributes of God

David elaborated on his understanding of God (Psalm 86:5).

a) He is indeed the Lord God.
b) He is full of compassion.
c) He is gracious.
d) He is longsuffering.
e) He is abundant in mercy.
f) He is a God of truth.

2. How would this knowledge of God help David?

a) His faith in God would be stirred up.
b) He would regain confidence.
c) He would find fresh courage to face his enemies.
d) He knew that God would hear his prayer and help him to battle his enemies.
e) He knew that his part was to put his faith in God into action.

3. Can the proud make use of this knowledge to their advantage?

a) They did not have any fear of the Lord.
b) They did not believe in God.
c) They were too set on killing David to think about God.
d) God would not hear their prayers (if indeed they prayed at all).
