GREAT PRIVILEGES EXTENDED

Great were the privileges extended to the children of Israel! The following may be highlighted:-

1. They had special covenants from God.

a) Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 12, 15, 22).
b) Davidic Covenant (2 Samuel 7; Psalm 89).

2. They were promised and given the Land of Canaan.

a) They inherited it.
b) They lost their inheritance (exiled to Babylon).
c) They regained their inheritance (context of Psalm 85).

3. They experienced the mercy of God in many ways.

a) The forgiveness of sins.
b) The removal of the wrath of God.
c) Restoration in the land.
d) Spiritual revival.
e) Return of the spirit of joy.
f) They were given special messages of the hope of peace in the land.

WHAT COULD CAUSE THEM TO LOSE ALL THESE PRIVILEGES?

Could the children of Israel lose all these privileges? The sons of Korah knew the solemn answer. The answer was “Yes!”

“But let them not turn back to folly.”
Psalm 85:8c
