“O LORD of hosts! Psalm 84:1b” Psalm 84:1b

SURVIVING SONS OF KORAH

There were some sons of Korah that did not join the rebels. These surviving sons were the ones who continued to faithfully serve the Lord in their assigned responsibility as the assistants of the Aaronic priesthood.

“How lovely is Your tabernacle,
O LORD of hosts!”
Psalm 84:1

1. The unfaithful sons of Korah who perished

a) They did not like their assigned role as assistants to the priests.
b) They desired to be priests.
c) They perished for their act of rebellion.

2. The faithful sons of Korah who survived

a) They accepted their role as assistants to the priests.
b) They remained faithful to the role assigned to them.

3. How were they able to be so faithful?

a) They had a great sense of reverence for God.
b) He was none other than the LORD of hosts.
c) He had every right to choose whom He wished to serve Him and in what capacity.
d) If God had assigned the Levites to be assistants, they determined that they would faithfully serve.
e) Ultimately, they were serving the LORD God Himself (and not the sons of Aaron).

4. A special love for the Lord’s House

a) The house of the Lord was called affectionately God’s “tabernacle”.
b) The word “tabernacle” simply meant “tent”.
c) It may be a simple tent, but it was God’s tent.

d) These faithful sons of Korah grew to love God’s tabernacle. To them it was “lovely”!
