Day 126 – Psalm 78

“…He gave them their own desire.” Psalm 78:29b

MOST GRACIOUS PROVISION

God’s provision was a great demonstration of His Power indeed. But it was more than that. It was a wonderful display of His graciousness.

“And He let them fall in the midst of their camp,
All around their dwellings.
So they ate and were well filled,
For He gave them their own desire.”
Psalm 78:28-29

1. What did God provide for Israel besides manna?

a) He sent them the quails.
b) An incalculable number of quails were sent to the children of Israel (Numbers 11:31-35).

2. How did Israel “catch” the quails?

a) They didn’t have to exhaust themselves chasing the quails.
b) He caused the winds to drop the quails:
i) In the midst of their camp.
ii) All around their dwellings.
c) It took no effort at all to catch these quails.

3. God’s graciousness seen

a) Food was brought to the doorsteps (“home delivery”).
b) This was “fresh food” every single day.
c) This was healthy food too.
d) The children of Israel could eat till they were full.
e) Their desire was for meat and this craving was met.

4. In normal circumstances

a) A guest does not express desire for any particular food when invited by a host.
b) But here the Divine Host met all the desires of unappreciative guests! Amazing Graciousness!
