Day 71 – Psalm 76

“…Bring presents to Him who ought to be feared.” Psalm 76:11b

THE WORSHIP OF GOD

Asaph was certainly deeply involved in the ministry of worship as a Levite. One of his major tasks as a Levitical servant of God would be to assist the congregation in their worship of God.

“Make vows to the LORD your God, and pay them;
Let all who are around Him bring presents to Him
who ought to be feared.”
Psalm 76:11

1. “Make vows to the Lord”

a) This is often in the context of worship.
b) In worship the believer makes a vow to God.
i) Hannah is an example of one who made a vow in the house of the Lord in Shiloh (1 Samuel 1:11).
ii) She vowed that if she would be granted a son she would give him back to God for service (1 Samuel 1:11).

2. “Let all who are around Him”

a) This is a description of the congregation in worship.
b) All are gathered around the Lord to offer Him worship.

3. God who ought to be feared.

a) God is to be feared, that is, held in awe (Psalm 76:7).
b) His name is great (Psalm 76:1).
c) He is to be feared because He is glorious and excellent (Psalm 76:4).

4. Bring presents to Him

a) This may be:-
i) Tithes
ii) Offerings
b) “Presents” is a good word to describe our gifts to God!

“None shall appear before Me empty.”
