“They shall fear You
As long as the sun and moon endure,
Throughout all generations.”
Psalm 72:5

b) Solomon would be no more than a regent and God Himself the Great King.
c) God’s blessings on the nation would be evident.
i) Righteousness would prevail.
ii) Peace would be enjoyed by all.
iii) Justice would triumph over evil.
iv) The poor would not be neglected.
v) The children of the needy would find their place in society.
vi) All evil oppressors would be resisted and defeated.
d) No human monarch would be able to bring about all these things!

3. As long as the sun and moon endure throughout all generations

a) Solomon could not have been making reference to himself.
b) His sole desire to reign well was so that Israel would fear the Lord.
c) Only God deserves this eternal reverence.
