“Let God be magnified!” Psalm 70:4c
FINDING THE SPIRIT OF JOY
One of the most beautiful things to see in the psalms of David is the spirit of joy that can prevail amidst great trials of life. This spirit of joy is a special gift from the Lord.
“Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
And let those who love Your salvation say continually,
‘Let God be magnified!’
But I am poor and needy;
Make haste to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O LORD, do not delay.”
Psalm 70:4-5
1. Who may have this special spirit of joy?
a) Those who seek the Lord.
b) Those who love the salvation of the Lord.
2. How is this spirit of joy expressed?
a) In gladness of heart.
b) In proclaiming the greatness of God.
c) In seeking to magnify God continually.
3. A humble confession of unworthiness
a) Poor
b) Needy
4. A steady affirmation of trust in God
a) As Helper
b) As Deliverer
5. An urgent plea
A heartfelt cry is made to the Lord to attend to his petitions with no delay!
