WOULD THE WICKED TRULY REPENT?

David was most aware of the depth of wickedness his enemies had sunk into. David had a deep knowledge of his wicked enemies. Would they truly repent? This question was left unanswered.

THE WICKED WOULD ULTIMATELY BRING HARM TO THEMSELVES

The following text reveals solemn truths about those who seek to harm others. They could well end up harming themselves.

“Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity;
Yes, he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood.
He made a pit and dug it out,
And has fallen into the ditch which he made.
His trouble shall return upon his own head,
And his violent dealing shall come down on his own crown.”
Psalm 7:14-16

1. How wickedness is born

a) It is conceived by the wicked.
b) Their offspring is falsehood (iniquity).

2. How the wicked ends up harming himself

a) He digs a pit as if he were a hunter.
b) In carelessness he falls into the very pit he has dug for his prey(s).
c) The trouble he seeks to create for others will return to his own head.
d) The violence he designs will come down on his own crown (head).

CHOOSING THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

The psalmist David reaffirmed that he would rather choose the righteous paths of God. This means a total rejection of the ways of the wicked.

“I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness,
and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.”
Psalm 7:17

There is every reason to praise “The LORD Most High”! He is the Defense of those who have put their trust in Him. He is their Righteous Judge and Saviour.
