Day 53 – Psalm 7

“The LORD shall judge the peoples…” Psalm 7:8a

DESCRIPTION OF AN ANCIENT COURT SCENE

The following text is an attempt to describe a court scene. It is simply but effectively portrayed.

“So the congregation of the peoples shall surround You;
For their sakes, therefore, return on high.
The LORD shall judge the peoples;
Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness,
And according to the integrity within me.”
Psalm 7:7-8

1. A picture of David’s own court

This description could well be a typical court scene where David would preside as King and Judge.

2. “The congregation of the peoples shall surround You”

a) Congregation

There will be many who would congregate to see how the King would judge the cases brought to his attention.

b) Peoples would include:-
i) The plaintiffs
ii) The defendants
iii) The witnesses
iv) Those attending court

3. “Return on high”

a) This would be an appeal to God to preside in this court room.
b) There is an appeal to God to be the Divine Judge.

4. “Judge me, O LORD”

a) David knew that he too would be judged by God impartially.
b) God would judge his “personal righteousness” (Psalm 7:3-4).
c) God would judge David on his “integrity”.
d) David expressed great confidence and trust in God’s Divine justice.
