Psalm 68:32a "Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth..."
Day 300 – Psalm 68
“Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth…” Psalm 68:32a
AN ADORATION OF GOD
David was absolutely correct to conclude his contemplation on the history of Israel on a high note of praise.
“Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth;
Oh, sing praises to the Lord, to Him who rides
on the heaven of heavens, which were of old!
Indeed, He sends out His voice, a mighty voice.
Ascribe strength to God; His excellence is over Israel,
And His strength is in the clouds.
O God, You are more awesome than Your holy places.
The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power
to His people.”
Psalm 68:32-35
1. Two expressions of adoration are warranted
a) Singing of praises to God (Psalm 68:32b).
b) Ascribing strength to God (Psalm 68:34a).
2. Reasons for adoration of God
Four reasons were suggested:-
a) He is the Supreme Lord who rides the heaven of heavens (Psalm 68:33a).
b) He is Almighty. His voice is full of might. (Psalm 68:33b).
c) There is no one who equals Him in strength (Psalm 68:34).
i) He bestows His strength to His people (Psalm 68:35b).
ii) He grants power to the weak among His people (Psalm 68:35b, Cf. Isaiah 40:28-31).
d) He is more awesome than words can describe.
i) Holy places like Mount Sinai are regarded in awe.
ii) God in His majesty is even more awesome than the holiest of places.
Let all God’s people stand in awe of Him and offer Him heartfelt adoration!
