Day 278 – Psalm 67

“God, our own God, shall bless us.” Psalm 67:6b

BLESSED ASSURANCE

Psalm 67concludes on a very strong and blessed sense of assurance that God would pour out His blessings on His people.

“Let the peoples praise You, O God;
Let all the peoples praise You.
Then the earth shall yield her increase;
God, our own God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us,
And all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.”
Psalm 67:5-7

1. “Let the peoples praise You”

a) A strong refrain of praise was uttered.
b) This refrain was first declared in an earlier verse (Psalm 67:3).

2. “God, our own God shall bless us”

a) There was such a strong sense of confidence expressed. This is evidenced in the way this thought is expressed twice over!
b) The focus of this thought:-
i) God’s covenant people (Israel) is in mind here.
ii) In application, this extends to all who have placed their trust in God.
iii) The Lord is spoken of as “our own God” (a personal faith-relationship must first be established).

3. God’s blessings are evidenced in two ways:-

a) Spiritually- in salvation
b) Physically- “The earth shall yield her increase”

4. “All the ends of the earth shall fear Himâ??

God’s blessings would be so wonderfully evident, that all cannot but stand in awe of the Lord and the way He looks after His people.
