Day 267 – Psalm 66

“For You, O God, have tested us…” Psalm 66:10a

GOD’S TESTING

The concept of testing from God was not unknown to Israel. The following texts speak plainly of God testing the children of Israel.

“There He made a statute and an ordinance for them,
and there He tested them…”
Exodus 15:25b

“And you shall remember that the LORD your God
led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness,
to humble you and test you, to know what was in
your heart, whether you would keep His commandments
or not.”
Deuteronomy 8:2

Moses taught Israel to understand the purpose of testing from God.

1. He wanted to know the true state of the heart of Israel.

2. Would the nation really keep His commandments?

3. Would the nation reject His commandments?

4. Passing or failing God’s test would reveal Israel’s true heart.

You have refined us as silver is refined.”
