Day 253 – Psalm 64

“The righteous shall be glad in the LORD…” Psalm 64:10a

TRIUMPH IN GOD

Evil is a powerful enemy. Evil can only be effectively dealt a mortal blow by God Himself. Many precious lessons may be learned through meditation on how God defeats evil.

“All men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God;
For they shall wisely consider His doing.
The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and trust in Him,
And all the upright in heart shall glory.”
Psalm 64:9-10

1. “All men shall fear”

a) There is an unhealthy fear of man (Psalm 64:1b).
b) But there is a healthy fear of God (Psalm 64:9a).

2. “And shall declare the work of God”

a) Only God can effectively defeat evil.
b) Every victory over evil should be “declared” (“proclaimed”).

3. “For they shall wisely consider His doing”

a) It would take wisdom to fathom and appreciate the works of God.
b) The works of God are both deep and wonderful and they deserve to be given due attention.

4. “The righteous… the upright”

a) They have every reason to be glad in the Lord.
b) Their trust in God is well-founded and there is every reason to continue to trust in Him.
c) The heart of the righteous should glory in the Lord.
i) There should be great exultation.
ii) There should be great celebration that God has once again defeated the wicked plots of evil men.
iii) The righteous must never lose trust in prayers offered to God.
