Day 252 – Psalm 64

“But God shall shoot at them with an arrow…” Psalm 64:7a

WHEN GOD ENTERS INTO THE BATTLEFIELD

David’s hope and prayer was to plead with God to hear his just complaint and to be involved in this war against wickedness.

“But God shall shoot at them with an arrow;
Suddenly they shall be wounded.
So He will make them stumble over their own tongue;
All who see them shall flee away.”
Psalm 64:7-8

1. But God

a) David contemplates God’s personal involvement against evil men.
b) God would deploy His “arrow” against the wicked.

2. God’s actions

a) He would shoot the wicked enemies.
b) He would come to the rescue of the blameless.

3. The enemies

a) They will be sorely wounded.
b) They will stumble over their own tongue.
i) Their plans would go awry.
ii) Their communication with each other would cause stumbling.
iii) Their best-laid plans would come to nought.

4. The allies of the wicked

a) They know that their plans have been uncovered.
b) They would flee for their lives.
c) They would abandon their allies.

PRAYER IS NOT IN VAIN

David had chosen well and wisely. Prayer to God is of utmost value. When God personally takes up the cause of the blameless, then the deepest and the most wicked plans of evil men would utterly fail.
