“Cast your burden on the LORD…” Psalm 55:22

THE PRESSING BURDENS OF LIFE

There will always be burdens in life. Sometimes, these burdens can be pressing and distressful. Oftentimes, we feel that we can handle all our burdens ourselves. But there will be times when the burdens of life can be very overwhelming. It is of great significance that we remember that we may turn all our burdens over to God.

“Cast all your burdens on the LORD,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”
Psalm 55:22

1. “Cast all your burdens on the Lord”

a) David was not just giving sound advice.

b) He wrote these words because of the lessons he learned in life.

c) His burdens included:-

i) Fears

ii) Threats of enemies

d) He found to his great delight that he could unburden his heart to God in prayer.

2. “And He shall sustain you”

a) This was David’s personal experience.

b) Somehow, he found God sustaining him.

3. “He shall not permit the righteous to be moved”

a) God cares about the righteous.

b) He will protect them.

c) He will not allow the righteous to be moved; the wicked will not prevail over the righteous.
