“Offer to God thanksgiving and pay your vows to the Most High.” Psalm 50:14

WHAT WAS GOD LOOKING FOR FROM HIS PEOPLE?

If God was not looking for animal sacrifice, what was He looking for from His people?

“Offer to God thanksgiving,
And pay your vows to the Most High.”
Psalm 50:14

1. Was God dispensing with the animal sacrifice?

a) There will come a time when animal sacrifice would be rendered obsolete.

b) When Jesus offered the Perfect Sacrifice as “The Lamb of God” the animal sacrifices would be made obsolete (Hebrews 10:3-14).

c) At this point of time, the worship system that involved animal sacrifice was still lawful.

2. Offer to God thanksgiving

a) This involves both heart and mind.

b) There is grateful acknowledgment of God’s involvement.

i) His protection

ii) His provision

iii) His Presence

3. Pay your vows to the Most High

a) Many made promises or vows to God.

b) However few ever honoured their vows made to God.

c) Correct understanding of vows to God were taught to Israel.

d) King Solomon wrote on this subject (Ecclesiastes 5:1-7).

e) To honour vows made to God would be considered acceptable worship.
