“Tell it to the generation following…” Psalm 48:12-13

THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING AT MOUNT ZION

Every city has its own charm and beauty. Like any famous cities, multitudes would travel to them and enjoy the sights. The city of Jerusalem was famous too. The beauty of the city should be well-captured in both heart and mind and then relayed to the generation(s) to come.

“Walk about Zion, and go all around her. Count her towers;
Mark well her bulwarks; Consider her palaces;
That you may tell it to the generation following”.
Psalm 48:12-13

1. Things worth admiring in the city of God

a) The towers
b) The bulwarks
c) The palaces

2. Things worth doing

a) Walk about the city
b) Slowly amble all around the city

3. Powerful impressions

a) There should be powerful impressions made upon the heart and mind.
b) Visiting Jerusalem was meant to be an unforgettable experience.

4. “Tell it to the generation following”

a) Experiences were meant to be passed down from one generation to the next.
b) The grandeur of Mount Zion cannot but be recounted to the next generation.
c) This is meant to kindle in the heart of the next generation a special sense of love and reverence for the city of God.
