“God is in her palaces…” Psalm 48:3″
AN EVEN MORE IMPORTANT REASON
There was another reason why there was so much exultation concerning Mount Zion.
“God is in her palaces;
He is known as her refuge.”
Psalm 48:3
1. Fortification of Jerusalem
a) After conquering Zion from the Jebusites David entered into a fortification program.
b) He built all around Zion (2 Samuel 5:9).
c) He became great; his greatness was attributed to the Lord (2 Samuel 5:9, 11-12)
2. Palaces
a) King Solomon went on to develop Jerusalem.
b) He built a beautiful Temple for the Lord (1 Kings 5-6).
c) He built many palaces (1 Kings 7).
3. God is in her palaces
a) The most significant thing was the Presence of the Lord in Zion.
b) At the dedication of the Temple God gave this gracious word to Solomon.
c) He will look at Jerusalem with great favour.
“And the LORD said to him:
I have heard your prayers and supplication
that you have made before Me;
I have consecrated this house which You have built
to put My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart
will be there perpetually.”
