Day 58 – Psalm 46

“Come, behold the works of the LORD…” Psalm 46:8

A GREAT WAY TO BOLSTER FAITH IN GOD

Our faith in God needs to be bolstered so that it would remain strong. One of the ways in which we can boost our strength is to take time to reflect on the works of God.

“Come, behold the works of the LORD,
Who has made desolations in the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariots in the fire.”
Psalm 46:8-9

1. “Come, behold the works of the LORD”

a) This is a warm word of exhortation.
b) The believer is encouraged to reflect on the works of the Lord.
c) These works would be well known to all who know the history of Israel.

2. A short list of the works of God

a) “Made desolations in the earth”
i) The power of God is in mind here.
ii) His sovereignty is highlighted.
b) “He makes wars cease to the end of the earth”
The ancient symbols of war are mentioned below:-
i) The bow is broken.
ii) The spear is cut in two.
iii) The chariots are burned.

A GREAT CHALLENGE

Believers are encouraged not to dwell on the powerful threats posed by wicked enemies. The best perspective is one where we focus on the LORD and His sovereign power!
