“He will be blessed on the earth…” Psalm 41:2b

BLESSINGS OF THE LORD I

The Lord’s promise of deliverance was only the beginning of what He has planned for those who kindly consider the poor. Let us ponder over this first set of blessings.

“The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive,
And he will be blessed on the earth;
You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.”
Psalm 41:2

1. “The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive”

a) This was certainly David’s personal experience in his life.
b) It was the Lord who preserved him.
c) It was the Lord who kept him alive.

2. “And he will be blessed on the earth”

a) David was a refugee when Saul was the king of Israel.
b) But because of the Lord’s blessing he succeeded Saul to the throne of Israel.
c) Under David’s leadership the blessing extended to the nation of Israel:-
i) The country was united.
ii) There was prosperity.
iii) The country was protected by a good army.
iv) Victory over enemies were experienced time and time again.

3. “You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies”

a) David was not free from having enemies.
b) These enemies would rise up against him now and then.
c) David was never delivered into the will of his enemies.

May we be moved to desire having a heart of compassion for the poor!
