“Oh, continue Your lovingkindness…” Psalm 36:10

AN INSIGHTFUL PRAYER

If you had just one prayer request to make amidst a world of great wickedness, what would you ask for? Ponder this insightful prayer of David as he concluded the writing of his special oracle from the Lord.

“Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,
And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the workers of iniquity have fallen;
They have been cast down and are not able to rise.”
Psalm 36:10-12

1. Lovingkindness and righteousness

a) May these continue to be outpoured.

b) Recipients:-

i) Those who know the Lord.

ii) Those who are upright in heart

c) Contained within this request:-

i) All we need to survive the onslaught of the wicked.

ii) All we need to succeed in life.

2. Prayer for protection from the wicked

a) Those who are proud.

b) Those who are wicked.

3. Fate of the wicked envisioned

a) The workers of iniquity will fall.

b) They will be cast down.

c) They will not be able to rise.
